I love the instrumentation here. Not a huge fan of Isaac Brock's vocal style, but I guess that's what the whole appeal of Modest Mouse is.

There is no heart or real feelings in this. Skip this and listen to their earlier work, Building and Lonesome are peak MM.
  • Brilliant album

I generally listen to hardcore metal or rock such as avenged sevenfold or hollywood undead, but modest mouse really got to me, especially this album. My favorite being "parting of the sensory." They are really mellow songs or just really catchy, "dashboard"being one with a catchy beat. And then we have "missed the boat" and this song is a perfect song for about anyone, with all the different emotion through his voice and the awesome beat really puts me in a good mood. One of my favorite bands.
  • Can toe the line

Only a select number of bands can have mainstream success and retain an indie sound. The direction of the music is going towards contending with popular music, but subtly stays true to their roots. I just hope their next release doesn't continue the trend of going towards pop oriented sound. Their music has always been good, but I'm afraid they'll cave into what sells versus what they should be writing. (The death cycle of every band)
  • Awesome.
