A strange release at the time not quite living up to the expectations of everyone . Robbie said later they did the best they could under the circumstances..It shipped gold but only 100,000 afterwards and today vinyl and cd can be found in bargain bens. But having said that ,I like it and with a glass of wine and a bone you can appreciate how good they were putting a record together in just a few days.

This is a great work by some of the best musicians of they're time. Dylan and the Band. They just belong together. Never say goodbye is one of my favorite Dylan songs

Not sure why I'm getting a series of duplicate downloads. Or still yet what I can do to delete them when I get more then one. Great song, I just don't need multiples.

This album is definitely worth buying, it has some really great stuff by Bob Dylan. "Hazel", "Going, Going, Gone", and "Never Say Goodbye" are beautiful songs. "Something There Is About You" and "Tough Mama" are also really good. This is one of his best albums.
  • Extremely Underrated Album

Great consistency throughout, and Dylan with the Band creates a natural comfort between all the musicians that leads to a excellent performances even though the entire album was recorded in just a few days. This was early enough in Dylan's career that everyone was expecting each new album to have a "Like a Rolling Stone" equivalent. If this effort had been held to any other standard it would be considered great, but at this time Dylan was required to be epic, so the album never got its due. I remember sitting on my couch a few years ago and playing some of these songs to a girlfriend on acoustic guitar and getting that look of adoration from her. I was too chicken to play "Wedding Song" to her; now I wished I had.
  • The collaboration we had been waiting for...

Dylan had done so much work with the Hawks/Band in the 60s both on tour and at Woodstock that it seemed strange that he did very little with them in the studio. The conjecture was that familiarity bred...well not contempt, but not anything terribly compelling either. The live music was something else, but the studio efforts just never seemed to measure up to that. Planet Waves comes close to finally living up to the promise. There are outstanding songs and performances on this rather inconsistent album. Dylan's lyric writing on Going, Going, Gone is transcendent. Forever Young is an anthem while Dirge and Wedding Song are personal and painful. Robbie Robertson's guitar work throughout the album is stunning (especially on Going, Going, Gone and Dirge) and Dylan's songs really benefit from Levon's touch on the drums. From my vantage point, this is the best collaboration between great artists in the history of rock music. Just one guy's opinion...
