Most underrated Dylan album!

Where to begin. Less prolific lyric-wise than his other notable '60's efforts, but that is beauty of this surprisingly concise and polished (not including the Cash duet) gem! Take, "Tonight I'll be Staying Here with You:" Dylan's word-smithing seems innocuous but it is just as well thought out as most tracks on Blonde on Blonde. "Throw my troubles out the door. I can't use them anymore." "Your love comes on so strong, and I've been waiting all day long" "Is it really any wonder: the love that a stranger might receive. You cast your spell and I went under. I find it so difficult to leave!" just to name a few. And what a simple and wonderful bridge (something we don't always get to enjoy on Dylan classic songs). And then there's the other songs: the title track, "Country Pie," "Tell me that it isn't True." So much to relish!

What more can I say than this album is awesome. Come on starting off the album with johnny cash, come on that's amazing!! The whole feel of the album is great. One of my favorite Dylan albums

Snarkiness aside, this album is a great introduction to both Bob Dylan and to bluegrass country for city folk raised on disco. The most famous song of this album is "Lay Lady Lay", but I love the haunting "Girl from the North Country" and sprightly "Peggy Day" and "Country Pie." I've moved on to the other parts of the Dylan cannon, but I always appreciate the tired working man soul behind "Lay Lady Lay".

Hanging out in Carpinteria Beach town headed to Rincon when across the air waves comes Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash singing a song together that was perfect. This is one all time great albums for one of the all time great years!!

I turned 15 the day this was released. My ninth grade choir teacher commented that there "is at least melody" in these songs, which in light of his purist vocal talent revealed his hurdle to enjoying earlier Dylan songs/poetry. But did he ever hear Jimi's version of Dylan's All Along the a Watchtower from 1967? I picked this album up again for the forth time--vinyl, cassette, CD and now digital. It's still wonderful. My taste in music ranges from Bach to Pitbull, and it's my absolute pleasure to hear this Dylan LP again. Get it for your library.

I met a girl from the north country at a loft party on Greene Street on a warm Spring evening in 1974 Thus began a period of great beauty in my life.Her long dark curly hair, her smile and her natural beauty remain with me as fresh now as they were then. This song perfectly captures the ache of being young and in love. .God bless Bob Dylan.

I have a friend that doesn't (yikes!) appreciate Bob Dylan because she claims he cannot sing (which I wholeheartedly disagree with). I gave her this album and she has been converted! :) I love this album! It's not my favorite because its not as heavy as his other albums in context. But I could listen to "lay lady lay" all day long.
