Billy Joel is 63 or so depending on when you read this review. This compilations is not here to take advantage of fans. GIVE ME A BREAK ALREADY! IF you have his Albums then you know you already own the songs -- so what gives? And as To Billy trying to offer different packaged sets for NEW FANS to access his music, what the hell is wrong with that? its saved them money than paying 1.29 per. Last but not least, Billy Joel has more money stolen from him or slice out of his estate by divorce than your average small country. So I think its totally fine he offer his catalogue in different ways. I would like to see new songs from Billy Joel too but his voice is not young and its throatier and low and its not going to be the same Billy Joel, so this is a way to give that to others using different formats, Get over yourselves folks. Billy Joel has produced more hits and done more for Russian American diplomacy than any ten political heroes I know and he still has to pay for his life and wants to live well in NYC -- don't you think the guy deserves to have that at this point. I do. If you got the songs and do not want to buy it then fine. If you are a new fan this a a nice compilation with some of his best. his other period love songs like "all for Leyna" or Why judy why are not on there but I think they are deemed to simple and not his best pieces musically but I personally think they have a charm of being very heartfelt and visceral. He captured really normal but obsessed love of the pre cable pre internet age where a woman was one of life 3 or 4 biggest decisions. Of course a mate still is a big decision but there are so many varied attitudes on everything from gender to monogamy to how much people trust each other. It was a time when people were still out raged about breaches of trust even if it was not them. not everyone could plug into the hive mind and see it happened often. And frankly, I think that the erosion of responsibility and the commodification of love and loving relationships might be what Billy has nothing to say about. The one that strike me on this album of that very point along with his own world weariness is "So it Goes" at the point the fight is gone and you are coming from a place that smoldering but not on fire but the scars are knowing and make the voice of the song writer knowing. I think Billy Joel will be remembered for many timeless songs and others that absolutely capture an age. The peak of the 20th century america before we plunged head long into the digital and Global age. more fringe victims due to the unfinished business of stamping out racism and sexism in its hidden but more obvious forms and ignorant of things like learning disabilities and gender Dysphoria, back when freaks covered for all of that as people were working people and not a lot of time to think about such unusual circumstances if they did not directly affect them. But it was also in age when the majority of the population believed in the promise of marriage and in trusting people. It was not the 50s but it was not an era were modern communications technology brought everyone instant access to knowledge and news. you had a broader variety of cultures and norms. And I think Billy joel captures that period including how different things were in his home town area of New york back in the day. And yet he did it with a universal voice and an honesty that sold without the need for swagger or artifice. Just his voice, a piano and maybe a beautiful arrangement or a hot horn section with drums. I think anyone serious about pop music that is art should be familiar with Billy Joel. If ever there was proof that soul is not just a black thing and to have it you do not have to sound like R&B it was and is Billy Joel. And to those mad its not a new album of new songs of Billy at age 40, wake up and smell the reality of the circumstances.

Billy has given us the soundtrack of our lives. This album is a rich and thoughtful collection about the love my wife and I have shared over the years. It was worth the $12 just to read the list of song titles. It is a joy to listen to. Thanks for the memories Mr. Joel.

Billy should just release a new album with new songs instead of old material that we've heard before also. he could go on tour again. that would be nice
  • New recordings would have been nice.

Been a Billy fan since 1976. Please listen to your friend Howard Stern and don't take advantage of your fans - how about some new versions or remixes of old classics. Here's a thought, how about some new music??? Love you, Billy but I'm keeping my $11.
