Lea Salonga always puts other vocalists to shame! Her hauntingly beautiful rendition is such a treat. I cannot understand why people say they want Brandy? Brandy is a pop singer. Cinderella is truly for musical theater performers and vocalists. Lea Salonga is just perfect, as she is in many of the roles she has wowed audiences with (Kim~Miss Saigon, Eponine~Les Miserables, Fantine~Les Miserables) not to mention her beautifully voiced Disney Princess performances for Jasmine in Aladdin and Mulan in Mulan. If you love Lea Salonga and musical theater, you must own this album!

This is a pretty good recording, but I know I speak for most iTunes users that a release of the 1997 ABC soundtrack with Brandy and Whitney Houston is WAY overdue and even more anticipated! Christmas is coming, give us something we really want!
  • Love it!

I love this album! I grew up watching the 1965 version of R&H's Cinderella and didn't quite like the version with Brandy and Whitney Houston, so this album is great for me! I remember rewinding the VCR over and over so I could listen to A Lovely Night:)

I originally was looking for the 1997 TV production of "Cinderella" starring Brandy as Cinderella and Whitney Houston as The Fairy God Mother but I stumbled upon this and EUREKA! I love it! The Best "Cinderella" soundtrack ever!!!
  • Good but could be great.

    By good or better?
I liked the lyrics of the cd but I prefer the strong, emotional voice of Whitney Houston. If you could put that Cd up here, I'd buy all the songs! But besides that these songs were okay. Get Whitney Houston's cd and they will be even better.

When I looked this up, I expected to hear the Brandy version. This is ok, but not what I was looking for. I will buy the songs when iTunes adds the other version.

I like this version but I must say the one with Brandy, Jason Alexander, Whoopi Goldberg, and Victor Garber is better. Not bad at all.
  • Love it like the first two CBS versions!

Those that keep referring to the Whitney Houston and Brandy version of Cinderella probably never heard the original 50's CBS version with Julie Andrews and the 60's version that appeared on CBS annually for many years with Leslie Ann Warren. For me, this soundtrack is more in the broadway tradition than the Disney-fied version with pop stars like Brandy and Whitney. I guess it's what you remember. This version brought me back to some very fond childhood memories. It's nice to see a musical with such a universal appeal span many generations. Hopefully, the children of the parents that enjoyed the version with Brandy as Cinderella will enjoy this one as much as the great grandchildren of those that remember Julie Andrews in the lead role.
