This is a bad cover and is falsely advertised as a soundtrack. If you are looking for the original this is not it!!!!

I was in a production of The Sound of Music and was introduced to "How Can Love Survive?" and "No Way To Stop It" and I loved them. I was disappointed that the movie did not include these, but I am so glad this album had them. Excellent songs.
  • Broadway show (with two songs omitted from the film)

I bought this album by mistake, thinking it was the film soundtrack (I bought in on my iPhone, so I couldn't see the faint note on the album cover). But this version grows on you. First, the singers are great. Plus it includes two of the more socially critical songs that were left out of the 1965 blockbuster movie. In "How Can Love Survive?", the Countess and the Captain complain of the travails of wealth and the challenges it places on love. Then with the carnival-style rhythm of "No Way to Stop It", the Countess and Max encourage the Captain to stop worrying, look out for "No. 1" and go with the flow, even if the stream is flowing fast into fascism! I'm not sure the last song works as social commentary, but it is interesting to realize that it was part of the original show. Overall, if you buy this album by mistake, as several other posters have done, then once you get over kicking yourself for the wasted $10, give the Broadway "Sound of Music" a chance. There is a lot to like.

This music is a bunch of boring and annoying crud. If you buy this, you are wasting your money. The movie is a classic, but a boring one. If your the type of person that likes this kind of stuff, then go ahead. Other wise don't.
