The cover of White Lines is amazing, with an even more amazing video to go with it. Lov It!

Critics always dislike these kinds of albums. This kind of album can come off as self-congratulatory and as if you're aligning yourself with other artists. U2 received the same sort of criticism for Rattle and Hum. Both of these albums are bold in that regard, especially for DD because you'd have to realize there'd be criticism. These are quite fresh takes in many ways and DD manage to do these songs with a sound that's all their own. It was an odd time when this came out, and this seemed very out of its element, just not something the masses were tuned into. I think had this been released shortly after The Wedding Album as sort of a companion piece, it would have been a smoother ride. However, to wait and make this a new album, as a statement didn't go over well. It was a puzzling move for them. Still, White Lines was very popular. I remember they managed to get a lot of radio play for it. Listening to it now, this album still sounds good...even. Enter now that the 'pressure's off.'

So many critics hated this album, but I still revisit quite often when I am in the mood for classic tracks that have that Duran Duran mood and feel. They did a wonderful job with the majority of the album. It was a fresh step after they put everything they had into "the wedding album" that preceded. Very much so worth a listen and selecting your personal favorites.

great introduction to classics that, if you're too young, you hadn't heard the originals. then you listen to the classic and realize Duran Duran did an awesome cover of each! adding improving DD sound to each... One of my favorite albums!
