  • The Pinnacle of The Goo Goo Dolls

Loved every album up to this one. The cover of the Plimsouls and the Prince cover with Lance Diamond… Brilliant! Everything after this they got more “commercially” more exposure (and more $$$) but personally I think they lost something…

This album has always been one of my favies, this and Superstar Carwash. True it reminds me also of the Replacements, which is another band I love, and to be honest I dont own any Goo albums after Dizzy up the Girl....I love my guys.. just love them more Old school style. Their first 4 albums is all what you really need. :) They got the happy-go-lucky-drunk-punk and the more salty sweet songs that are just below mainstream req's, that you wish would make it there. This album is just fun and always makes me sing/screech along ❤

My album was completely scratched up and unfortunately it cracked on me because I stepped on by mistake. I was devastated. I've listened to this album countless times because I love it so much. I'm a Buffalo girl who has been a fan of these guys since I was a child. Old school Goo is my favorite because it's not influenced by the major record labels as of yet and really gives me a sense of nostalgia in reference to Buffalo. Love, love, love it. I repurchased this because it's one album I'm unable to live without.

This is probably the bands best work, still edgy enough to be true to their punk roots and polished enough to cross over into more mainstream. After this it's a downhill slide into commercialism. Damn shame, these guys were fun before they sold out.
  • this is maybe the most UNDERRATED ALBUM EVER

I love this album, but to say Paul Westerberg slid into tasteful irrelevance is blasphemy.

I came across this album by accident when I was a college DJ in the early 90's. Yes, it reminded me of the Replacements, but the songwriting was so good it didn't matter. They lost me as they slid toward more polished radio friendliness. I'm not accusing them of selling out...it's just that when they sounded like the Replacements, they still sounded original. Ironic, huh?
