I'm a big fan of Will Oldham and all his incarnations, but this album did not do it for me at all. My least favorite of his works

this album makes me feel calm and normal. the lyrics and music are simply beautiful, authentic and resonant. there are very very few albums that approach such goodness.

"The Letting Go" is one of the best albums that Will Oldham has ever recorded, if not the best. It's hard for me to pick between Palace Music's "Viva Last Blues," Bonnie "Prince" Billy's "I See A Darkness," and this as Will's best album, but all three are especially brilliant, even among his already outstanding oeuvre of work. Subdued yet emotionally fixated, the album's lush instrumentation and Dawn McCarthy's airy backing vocals, every song on this record is a treasure. You owe it to yourself to listen to it.

This is Will Oldham's Harvest. It's as good as any album you own. Give thanks.

Love the Prince. Not such a fan of this album. Just a bit too sappy for me. Love and Lay is a pretty tight track though.

Will Oldham is really on to something here. Beautiful melodies, moving lyrics, and unconventional song forms are only part of what make this record possibly the best of the decade. Anyone already familiar with Will Oldham, from his previous Bonnie Prince Billy works to his Palace Music catalogue, will not be dissapointed. Anyone just dipping their feet into the waters of Oldham will find this record deep and expansive with rich and vibrant textures. There isn't a single wasted note here, from the chilling string arrangement of "The Seedling" to the subtle Wurlitzer tones of "Lay and Love," Will creates a sonic masterpiece that will have people talking for years to come.
  • Good Record, but Some Sound Glitches in the MP3s

Super record. Very enjoyable for Oldham fans. Yet, iTunes has some glitches in the songs... which is a downer. Guess the blame can be placed onto the distributor and not iTunes?
