This is some of the absolute best classic head music from the 70’s. Take a couple bong hits, lower the lights and put your best ear buds in. This album takes me back to my long-hair days rolling dubes of Columbian Gold.

George Martin died this week. Amongst so much of his great work are a couple of Jeff Beck Albums from the mid 70’s: Blow By Blow and Wired. You cannot go wrong with either one. Jeff Beck doesn’t owe an explanation to anyone for any of his art. And George Martin made sure to record it all in his streamlined silvery glory.

"Wired" the 8th album by Jeff Beck was released in 1976 and was produced by the Beatles legendary Producer Sir George Martin. Martin also produced Becks previous album "Blow By Blow". The overall positive experience was a major factor in bringing Beck and Martin back together for an outstanding album of Rock Jazz Fusion. Jan Hammer who played synthesizers as well as drums on "Blue Wind" is an extremely talented player. Beck and Hammer compliment each other so masterfully that it is hard, at times, to distinguish between Becks guitar soloing and Hammers. Jan Hammer has the ability to play guitar "riffs" instead of normal keyboard "runs" that this attributes to why they are tough to tell apart in such great tunes like "Sophie". Brilliant in its production and one of the finest instrumental albums of all time. Narmada Michael Walden wrote 5 of the 8 songs on this album and was previously in The Mahavishnu Orchestra along with Hammer. There is not a weak link in this album and I cannotput into words just how brilliant the entire album is. I bought this on vinyl the summer after I graduated high school on a whim. I was in a music store looking for a replacement needle for my turntable and they had this on. I listened to it for about 20 minutes and was absolutely blown away. Got my needle and 'Wired'. Must have played it 1000 times. This has some of the best guitar & drum work you'll ever hear. Before hearing 'Wired', my tastes were typical 70s hard rock (Zepplin, Rolling Stones, Bad Company, etc.) After imersing myself in this, I bought 'Blow by Blow', and my music tastes became less mainstream (Yes, King Crimson, Brand X, Bruford, etc.) Thank you Jeff Beck.

This album brings back so many good times. I've had it on vinyl,8 track, cassette and disc and on all my mp3 players - total listening pleasure. To cop an old FM Radio phrase - an "eargasmic" event - @ 25% volume rollin down the highway with good friends.

This album has some of the greatest fusion guitar licks ever laid down. A classic of classics. Jeff Beck produced several really outstanding jazz-rock fusion albums, but this represents his pinnacle. Wired is not as cohesive as Blow By Blow, but the playing is truly spectacular. The thing that always stands out to me on this album is how, on song after song, what seems at first like random noise, feedback, or fretboard noise is actually structured and intentionally placed right where it belongs. At first I thought it was just a happy coincidence that came together, but now realize there is no way that random chance could produce such perfectly crafted musical statements, one after another. Did chance contribute to this great album? Of course, it always does. But the summation of clear, precise playing, along with Beck's signature power and speed make this work his best.

Beck outdoes himself again. Who would have thought that possible after 'Blow by Blow'. Clearly the best guitar recordings of that era, or any other era for that matter until he came out with 'Guitar Shop' in 1989 which may be the best guitar record ever recorded. A must have for every guitar player out there. So much to study and learn, so little time, but getting there is half the fun.

a special place in my heart because i listened to Play With Me and Love is Green on repeat when i traveled to Greece. the rest is equally as great and special. seeing him live was one of the most jaw dropping experiences ever.
