Fabulous album...but the early 70's recording techniques don't transalate to today's sound. Mr. Beck would do us all a great favor if he would take a page from the Stones and re-master all his great albums...until then...I will not be purchasing any more of his old tracks as the clarity and overall sound is not what I expected.

Beck Is so far from rock and roll its as if He dropped in from another planet!! What a talent catch Him live and enjoy a unique artist. Fortunately He's taken good care of himself and is better than ever today in His mid 60's. Rough And Ready is heavy rock with a touch of jazz check out I've Been Used!!

New Way/Train Train makes a statement!!...Still holds up after 39 years. I got this album when it was first released in 1971 and it was a classic then just as much as it is today! High Recommended.

My personal favorite LP from the career of the illustrious Mr. Beck...the record is brimming with soulful grooves, powerful drumming, delicate dynamics and Beck's swampy-yet-elegant phrasing...I honestly enjoy this record more than the Yardbirds or the earlier JB Group with Rod Stewart...I don't think Beck ever made a better recording with a band...It's a shame the record is so darn short...I wish this group had stayed together for more than just two albums, they were one of the great bands of the 70's...the follow-up to this also quite terrific.

From the days of the Fillmore East in NYC where beck performed with Rod Stuart Jeff Beck has been one of the most creative guitarists of Rock/Blues/Fusion. His blues roots are evident, but the mix of the musicians he puts together here with the songs are just stellar. Get this, then Truth, then Beck-Ola then Wired. Or just start with Truth and watch the transformation of this master.

I saw the Jeff Beck Group at Carnegie Hall in NYC promoting this record and the orange album. I had been aware of his earlier work, but this show remains to this day one of the most oustanding I have ever seen. This "version" of the Jeff Beck Group was exploring new ground and way ahead of what was happening at that time. Jeff Beck is truly an original, a combination of raw emotion, technique, with an instantly recognizable style. The musicians surrounding Jeff are outstanding. I can still remember Max opening the show with an elaborate intro to "Going Down" and then Jeff and the rest just blasting off. My favorite overall JB effort!

jeff beck group went on tour in the early 70's, would've been a great show, only problem, jeff beck didn't show up half the time. 3 members of the group, max, bobby, and clive went on to another group called "hummingbird" made 3 albums. more great music

situation. oh man, they just don't make songs like that any more. alright, let's say you're someone who has never heard of jeff beck... just buy that song (or the whole album if you like) and DO NOT even sample it. then get in a car or somewhere and turn the volume as high as it will go. rinse, repeat. gauranteed to blow your socks three counties over.
