  • The Quintessential Smooth Jazz Album

    Many say that this is the album and group that put “smooth jazz” on the map. Many of the musicians on this album (Russ Freeman of course, Gregg Karukas, Dave Benoit, Dave Koz and Kenny G) launched their own careers and helped pioneer the smooth jazz movement in the middle 80’s and they are still playing today. Every song on this album is great. Starting with their signature (tropical, rhythmic) song Moonlighting, to the Kenny G lead on She Likes to Watch, to slower tunes like the atmospheric and beautiful Intimate Strangers. I still play this album in my car once a week. The Rippingtons have long changed their personnel and their sound but this album is still a great time tunnel to where it all started. You will not regret it. Enjoy!
