In my opinion, the band severely stumbled in the last 10 years or so, putting out a few mediocre tracks with an album full of filler material. This one is dang good; a lot less filler and more of the musical talent they used to display in their excellent 90s releases.
This album is actually good!

This the Rippingtons album that I've been waiting for! But I really do miss the rich ambient percussions you guys did before. Still, I'm glad the sax is back! Awesome release!

having followed the rippingtons for years, I am saddened that the direction of the group is now all about freeman and less about the band. the music is ok (craig chiquico is much better, my opinion) but it lacks the fullness of the past (early 90's) and in my opinion, can no longer be classified as smooth jazz as it once was. unless they change direction, this will probably be the last album i'll buy.

After a couple of trips down a different road, it was so great to hear the new album with the old-school, what-we-love traditional Rippingtons sound. Was almost rerady to give up on them and this one brings 'em back!

Good to hear the Ripps are back almost... I feel the sound is void of percussion which made it so full and rich in the past.

I've been listening to the Rippingtons since we left California in '86 and they have never let me down! True Stories is vintage Russ Freeman & the Rippingtons. Looking forward to seeing them again in Dayton this summer!!!
