I have been anxiously waiting Katatonia's next release and this far exceeds my expectations. I knew it was going to be good but this album is amazing. The coolest thing is that fans of metal, rock, and alternative alike can get into this. I hope to be able to see them live to suport this album.

The album is what I consider to be one of Katatonia's best works while others may disagree. The songs are excellent. Highly recommended.

I would have given it 4.5 stars, but you can't. This is a tremendous album, but does have a blemish or two. But first, let's look at the Pro side. The album is dark, moody, and downright addictive. Even if I am not in a melancholic mood, if I pass this album on my player, I have to stop and listen to it. From start to finish, the album beckons feelings and moods from deep within. As we all know, there are two Katatonias. The first, true metal form from the Brave Murder days is long gone by the time Last Fair Deal comes around. But this album is the best I've heard from the new Katatonia. Jonas' vocals have a despair unparalleled in anything else I've heard, and it is what he accomplished in those regards on LFDGD that he has tried again and again to recapture. The only blemishes are the too poppy rhythym and strained vocals on We Must Bury You and the forgetfull Don't Tell a Soul. The rest of the songs range from pretty damn good to downright excellent. LFDGD is the latter Katatonia's Magnum Opus. See also Discouraged Ones and tonight's decision for the current sound, or try Brave Murder Day (featuring Mikael Akerfeldt of Opeth) to sample the old Katatonia.

This Is One Depressing Album, it realy is so bleak and cold that at first I hated it. But over Several more listens I was able to See the Subtle Beauty and musical Genius of This Album. I mean This Album Is Good, Nearly Perfect (Exept For "We Must Bury You"). This Might Even Beat Out "Dance Of December Souls". If You Have Never Heard Of Katatonia, They Have Followed The path most great Death/Doom Bands Do (Actualy Katatonia, started out as Atomspearic Black Metal) Go From Being Almost Unbearably Bleak and Heavy, To Going Soft, Combing elements, of Goth rock, Dark Alternative, Shoe Gaze And Doom Metal, To Create A Hauntiny Melodic Masterpiece. Many People Would Argue Katatonia Are No Longer Metal, But They Are, There is a metal riff in every song. Some Highlights would enclude: Teargas I Transpire Clean Today I Stronly Recomend This To Any One Who Is A Fan Of Modern My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, Anathema, Or Opeth, Or Just To Any Metalhead Open Minded Enough To Give Them A chance
