Seriously? If you do not like metal, why would you listen to one song off of the album, then give this album one star? Now that my small rant is finished, time for business, a quick overview of the album's highlights. The first track opens with a parody of Pink Floyd's Astronomy Domine titled "Scatology Domine".This precedes the title track "Humanure". This is the best song on the album, with great vocals and a catchy riff. The tracks on the album do get repetitive after some time, many of them are somewhat simple. Another funny title arises called "Bukkake Tsunami". If you do not know what Bukkake is, be careful what you search! The final track is a haunting audio tape within a slaughterhouse. If you are new to extreme metal and are looking for an album to listen to, look elsewhere and come back to this in the future. If this is your first Cattle Decapitation album, I would suggest listening to one of the three albums after this. If you are a grindcore fan looking for a brutal album with some elements of humor, you have arrived at the right place.
  • Unorganized album with one amazing hit.

I'll start off by saying I'm a fan of Cattle Decap and without them, my world would not have been as influenced by far. However, the times that Cattle "hit the mark" with an amazing song is, like many grindcore bands, far in between. With Humanure, the title track of the album, Humanure, is without a doubt the biggest offering here. Weaving in and out of haunting, epic, dooms-day riffs, melodic song structures, blazing intensity, and well-performed, layered vocals, this song brings about the cult-like horror and musical addiction you also hear from, say, Dimmu Borgir's singles or almost any Cradle Of Filth song. Not a bad thing at all, music should be exciting, emotion-driving, dynamic, and well-written. Humanure is a very standout track and as a song, and instant classic. However, the rest of the entire album simply falls flat. Not one other song compares to the songwriting and captured emotions of the title track (unless you count the piano intro, Scatology Divine, which bleeds into Humanure). The rest of the tracks simply are extremely scattered, random, and just not well thought-out. Only during Polyps does the band regain a sense of flow and songwriting they found on the title track, but what's lame is that the haunting, slower riffs in the middle are recycled from the title track I'm harking on about! Talk about a bit unoriginal. At the end of the day though, depsite being unorganized and somewhat flat and boring, the rest of the album has a few shining moments nonetheless. Some of the songs weave in and out of churning, chugging riffs that are bound to get a few feet stomping (much like very early Cattle days), providing a ride that, while somewhat kiddie in excitement (lets face it, Cattle's new album The Harvest Floor proves how exciting, talented, and intense the band can REALLY be!), provides a few appreciated, catchy hooks along the way. Two Stars for the entire album, Five Stars for the title track!

OK, so these guys are vegetarians. So was Hitler. I find it hard to believe that any rational person could call this crap music. My garbage disposal is more musical than this stuff. I realize that all music is ultimately a matter of taste, but it first has to be music. This noise isn't.
