  • Burning Fire!

This show was straight fire. If anybody had any doubts if the boys could turn on the heat and leave it on without a slow song this second set proves it. The crowd was great, and the boys were on. If you check out any show from this summer leg one make it this one. The Jumpin' Jack Flash is a first time played and the Wilson > Meatstick > Saw It Again > Piper > Ghost ... is something out of the old days with the sets that flow and transitions that are smooth. Let this be a sample of how the band can bring it back old school with flares of the new 3.0 older and better Phish.

Fun show overall with a great vibe at Merriweather and the band letting loose. This series of shows marked a real momentum change on summer tour when things really start to heat up. Albeit Trey is on "the whale" and there are more than a few flubs, this approach allows the rest of the band to really lead a lot of segments. You can feel the energy from the first note and they carry IT right to the end. Definitely one of the top 10 shows of the year. I can't wait to see a couple of gems from fall tour get this sonic treatment.

Best show of Leg I, imo. Certainly the best Set II. What a wild ride, a true delight to have witnessed. Thank you, Phish et al, for giving it the special treatment. A worthy addition to your ever-expanding catalog of musical gems. Musically, most people seem to rave about the Piper from this show, but the Page-let sonic madness (and shrieking vocal insanity) of Saw It Again takes top billing for me. Plus - Boy Man, I Saw It Again! All around, one of my most treasured Phish memories.
