  • Unfortunate...

I heard the Vivir Sin Ti single, and really had high hopes for this album. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. If you haven't heard Vivir Sin Ti, be sure to grab that, because that's definitely a song that you can listen to over and over! As far as the rest of the album, there's not much to be excited about. The songs don't do much melodically, so I think that probably made it difficult to make nice arrangements to compliment. Nonetheless, Gilberto still sounds great after all these years!
  • Disappointing!!! Thank God for the Chico Cocolo review below!!!?

The review by Chico Cocolo says it like it is. The WEAK STREAK. That is the truth. I am a big salsa fan. But for some reason I find that I am forcing myself to like the music of my favorite artists. It is happening again here on this Gilberto CD. His last records have been the same. Slow and tired!! The same with El Gan Combo. I was hoping that their latest CD would be great but it isn't. The biggest surprise I had all year was EDGARD NEVAREZ & LA TROPICA. I don't like when the artists put out a record with all guests singers. It takes away from the main artist. Everybody is doing it these days. When the fans stop buying an artists music, they get guest singers to help out on the record thinking it will boost sales. Here is a little secret, put out good music GILBERTO and you will not need the help of other dying or dead singers.

UNLIKE the others who reviewed this album, I am NOT a DIE-HARD FAN who CAN'T admit when Gilberto Salsa-Moga comes out with a WEAK album. Again, Gilberto Sant-Rosa is a very talented SONERO, one of todays best, but his recordings have not shown it. As for the reviewer who stated: "Salsa had outgrown its rough street origins and become a slick, lushy romantic genre," YOU probably have NOT NOTICED that when you go to a MAMBO dance social the stuff that REALLY gets the crowd moving, is the type of "Salsa" that STILL HAS NOT, as YOU put it: "outgrown it's rough street origins." Let me give you an example, put this weak album next to: MAMBO LEGENDS ORCHESTRA-(formely LATIN GIANTS OF JAZZ), or compare it to, LUIS GONZALEZ - "TRIBUTO A UN GIGANTE" or SONORA PONCENA - "TRAYECTORIA +CONSISTENCIA" or even LA EXCELENCIA - "TUMBAO SOCIAL" and then you tell me what has more "swing" and can get dancers moving. I like variety, and I like "Salsa Romantica" but when EVERY song of the entire album is "Salsa MONGA/Romantica" it is boring and becomes very difficult to keep focused, and listen to it as you would listen to an album by the groups I just mentioned. Don't be a "FAN" be "IMPARTIAL." If it's good, then alright! But if it's WEAK, then SAY SO. I gave this a chance but it FAILED. Gilberto SALSA-MONGA is at it again. Perhaps he needs to inject B-12, or maybe even steroids into his music or his next album. I guess if you like this CD, your probably the type who also likes Frankie Negron, Kevin Ceballos, Victor Manuelle, and the rest of the MONGUILLAOS. GILBERTO SALSA-MONGA receives 1 STAR for this WEAK album, and along with this GILBERTO SALSA-MONGA continues to keep his "Consecutive WEAK album Streak" alive!

I'm a HUGEEEEEEEEEEE Gilberto fan but this album puts me to sleep. It is very borning and non-danceable. A waste of money.

Gilberto Santa Rosa has been flirting with the idea of doing an All Trombone album for quite some time now. He finally took the leap with this one and he didn't disappoint. With his modern and suave style Santa Rosa has once again produced one of the best albums within the romantic-salsa genre. There's really not more you can say aboutr this salsa titan for his work and experience speak for themselves. Truly a great album.

No podiamos esperar nada mejor.
