Wow, if you love music its hard to imagine how you could not fall in love with Paolo Nutini. I have read a few reviews that this 2nd album was not a good as These Streets but nothing could be farther from the truth. I feel both albums show case exactly how talented this young man is and I'm in awe of how many different influences he has pulled from. There is so much soul and passion that comes through in each song and I think its amazing that he writes all his lyrics as well. A must have artist.

... These Streets was good, but an artist has to move on. Sunny Side Up is very different, and so much more heartfelt and genuine. Take it or leave it. I love it. Great diversity of sounds. Unique artist. Great listen. Congrats Paolo.

Paolo Nutini has such a special voice! These songs are also different than most songs out there, positive and fun! I LOVE it!!

This second one might be more "mature"—if that's a way of explaining it—but I don't get it. It goes all over the place and contains none of the sad, romantic, soulful, and effortless singing and songwriting that made me notice Paolo in the first place. It's absolutely NOT THERE. Come back... on the third, please!

I loved "These Streets," but unfortunately Paolo completely turned me off with this album release. "Sunny Side Up" is no good... I'm hoping on his next album, his track selection will resemble what he was so talented at doing initially, melding romance and nostalgia with acoustic guitar. Please, I don't want you to fall off my favorites list Paolo.. This album jumps around, with each track using a different style. Doing this will have everyone liking one track from the album based on their preference in music. Do everyone a favor and stick with one genre, the acoustic guitar wielding hit scottish songwriter you are at heart!!

...This album is one of the most innovative albums to have come out in the last 5-10 years at least. These Streets has been done before, similar music by similar artists. You could find kind of quality music by turning on whatever CW/WB show is one at the moment. Sunny Side Up is new take on old sound. It was a gamble to make an album sounding like this, but I think Paolo Nutini did it in all the right ways. "Baited by Candy?" Cmon! the whole album is full of raw emotion. just because the music was produced on a larger scaled doesn't mean the music wasn't as strong. GREAT ALBUM. BEST ALBUM OF 2009

I knew some of his songs from These Streets, but became a fan with this second album. The way his voice sounds in the folk style is pleasing to the ear! And after listening to the album countless times I still find myself dancing just as excitedly as the first time! Can't wait for the next bunch of songs!
  • better than expected!

i can't get over this album. i really enjoyed "these streets" but subconsciously thought paolo was too pop oriented to put out a spectacular second record. so i avoided this... seeing the negative reviews and expecting a subpar follow-up. i am so glad i gave it a chance (albeit a little later). with this album, paolo has been legitimized as an musician that will endure. to me, the record evokes dylan, van morrison, otis redding, etc. each one of the tracks has a different feel. check out "coming up easy" and "high hopes" and "no other way." they are all great, though; you can't go wrong. we've got a keeper. woot.
