This album is the Avett Brothers really showing what they can do with their writing and music. A great album to rock out to and makes for some killer songs live.

I don't believe that the "album review" gives the credit that is deserved. I will openly admit to being biased, I think that the Avetts are one of very few bands out there that put out honest music. I easily tire of overproduced pretty faced garbage. This is the band for people who think the current popular music scene is pathetic. This album is solid all the way through and provides tracks that rock your face off, along with tracks to shed your tears to. You won't be disappointed. You can't go wrong with any of their other albums including A Carolina Jubilee and Country Was, which I don't believe are available on i-tunes. For the real deal, go check them live.
The Avett Brothers are amazing!

Ridiculously good! The Avett Brothers are the real deal when it comes to high energy music, yet have some beautiful and sweet tracks on this album. I listen to this cd almost every other day. Great lyrics, animate music, and great times abound.

I love records on which the listener is infected by the good time that was obviously had by all when recording the album. The last on I heard, my #1 last year, was We Shall Overcome: Springsteen Seeger Sessions. This is one of those records. From excellent rockers (Talk on Indolence, Colorshow) to beautifully more low-key songs ( 16 in July, 40 East), you can tell that the Avett Brothers were having just as much fun making the record as you will have listening to it.
literary talent not to be ignored

the review above does not do this album justice, albeit, it is not nearly as strong as the powerhouses mignonette and emotionalism, four thieves gone is still a great album that deserves listening too
