The only I don’t like is the screaming, it sounds amateurish, really bad and kinda pathetic for a professional album. Definitely think Howard Jones does a better job on these songs. The guitar is soooooooo sick and instrumentals are great overall.

Years later and still my absolute favorite album ever! So much pure raw emotion and intensity in Jessie’s voice!

I’m not a core guy at all. I think metalcore and especially deathcore are incredibly saturated and repetitive. But this album, oh man. I’ve known about KSE for a while but never really listened to them other than The End Of Heartache and This Fire Burns. A few days ago I decided to download their albums and I’m very impressed so far. Alive Or Just Breathing is my favorite album of theirs at the moment. My favorite songs are Numbered Days, Fixation On The Darkness, My Last Serenade, Life To Lifeless, To The Sons Of Man, Temple From The Within, and Vide Infra. Melodic, crushing, thrashy. This album is amazing. 9/10

This is one of the best metal core albums in existence. Pure raw emotion belted into ever single song. It was after listening to this album that I knew I wanted to be a metalhead. Sixteen years later and I still consider this my favorite album of all time. It’s a metal core classic and you should do yourself a favor and buy it. A masterpiece of its time.

I contend that you cannot understand American metal of the 2000s until you have heard this album. The impact it had is being felt to this day. Yet there are certainly two schools in the metal community and there are pretentious and elitist snobs who knock them as too soft, too this, too that. That's okay. But don't underestimate the role this band played in bringing metal to the fore, after the era of hair metal (80s), grunge (90s), and nu-metal (late 90s-early 00s). This band was apart of a generation of performers that made metal respectable and a community you were proud to be apart of. It's a must buy.

It's that simple. This was the beginning of what modern metal is now. The only difference is that this is raw, honest, and passionate. Better than the manufactured and fake bands that plagues the heavy scene now.
