  • Chaka's all mixed up

This remix album was actually released without any involvement from Chaka herself and she didn't even know about it till the day of release (the label called her to surprise her the day of release). Even for that time (1989) some of these mixes are a little weak. At the time of this release we were starting to hear regular songs being mixed into house/club music by some up and coming Dj's/ producers (C&C music factory to name one) so it was still pretty new which put this album ahead of its time, there weren't many remix albums at this time being released. "I'm Every Woman" and "I Know You, I Live You" are probably the best remixes in my opinion. The rest isn't so bad but not great either. "Ain't Nobody" loses something in this mix not sure what it is but when I first heard it I was expecting more than what I heard (still a must have for any fan, an alternate vocal is used). "I Feel For You" I feel they should have kept more in it's orignal form like I know you, I live you and then expanded on it from there. If you are a CK fan you have to have this even if it's not the best remixes.

One of the greatest remixes I've ever enjoyed listening and dancing to. Chaka Kahn will always be the top leading female vocalist of all time.
  • Great, great re-inventions

I have the vinyl version of this "re-invention" package, and long, long before Nelly suckled a bottle -- there were people reinventing CLASSICS! This is a great collection for any Chaka fan. Yes, the originals are great, but why not hear these reinventions and enjoy them just as much as the originals. These make a great addition to any party. Just mix them in with the other party songs you play and watch your guests who haven't heard them ask "where'd you get those?" And you can smile at them and say, "Go to iTunes and GET YOUR OWN!! LOL.
  • Great Songs But...

They were great Before they were remixed. Why mess with them? "Slow Dancin", The duet with Rick James does benefit from the extra background percussion, but other than that, the remixes just get in the way. You woudn't cover a Rolls Royce with bumper stickers; show a little more respect to Chaka's greatness.
