This album is stellar from start to finish. I would venture to call this one of the top 3 American rock albums of the early 90s. This tops anything that the other so-called grunge bands released. Every song has something special to offer. Barrett Martin and Mark Lanegan steal the show. Martin is an amazing drummer whose beats bounce out of the speakers. Lanegan is my favorite vocalist possibly ever. I would feel confident pitting this against anything released by Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Foo Figthers, Nirvana, etc., and yet the Trees are basically unknown, especially on the east coast (I live in New Jersey) where they get no radio time whatsoever. I would guess that many 90s rock listeners don't even know who the Trees are, and that is a crime, if only for the fact that Mark Lanegan's voice is the eighth wonder of the world.

This "album" encapsulates the early 90s grunge sound....a true epic! It holds up well with the best Seattle had to offer. Worth every cent!

Screaming Trees were a grunge band but this album is a little mellow for alot of grunge fans, however alot of great songs to just sit back, chill

The disparity between how good this album is and the credit it recieved is enormous. One of the best of the 90s for sure.

If any album from the Seattle "grunge" era deserved more recognition it's this one. Perhaps its "flaw" was not being grunge enough? Hardly a flaw. Really solid album with some truly exceptional songs. Vocally Lanegan is at his finest and the band has a great balance between power/crunch and accessibility.

This album is a classic. It's aged really well over the years and I wish Mark would take his solo stuff back in this direction. There is a timeless quality to what was laid down on this album. It mixes well with gritty rock, blues and country. Turn it up and let the warm fuzzy and melancholy heaviness take you over. Really, one of my all time top albums from any era. ;)

this album is AWESOME and so this band. Mark Lanegan is a complete genius check out his solo albums, esp. the winding sheet! another thing tho.. in the review it says relegated to cult status? umm improper use of the word brah.

Great album, don't really care much for the mainstream effort nearly lost you which seems to be a favorite amongst all. As an aside, I am wondering who that that Asian guitarist from the Pumpkins was playing solos at the handful of live shows I saw them play, b/c according to shutup it wasn't Iha.
