I'm not a big Hans Zimmer fan, I typically find his music monotonous and closer to sound design than actual film scoring. I bought a copy of the Batman V. Superman score because they were practically giving it away on iTunes and thought it was some of the worst music possible for a film of that scope and subject matter. Dreary and tedious--just like the movie. And while I thought the Wonder Woman theme was interesting, the electric guitar riff seemed out of character. At any rate, with the case of Wonder Woman 1984, I can only imagine that Mr. Zimmer thought he was being cute by creating a goofy 80's throwback centered around the Wonder Woman theme he wrote for BvS. And because he infused it with a happy sense of fun, and an actual orchestra behind it, the score actually works tremendously well, much better than the film itself which is a wrongheaded disaster for the exact opposite reasons that Batman v. Superman was. Not since Gremlins 2 has a sequel flown off the tracks with such a spazzy, foaming-at-the mouth sense of hopeless desperation. But I digress. The music is fabulous.
