It's not that I "love" this song, it's just that I want it played at my funeral.
  • Maybe the best album of the 80s

While most music critics consider Remain in Light as the Heads finest album, this is the one that made them great and put them on the edge of superstardom. This album expands their sound firmly into the funk realm, yet retains their quintessential weirdness and New Wave roots while making the music accessible enough for a mainstream pop audience. New Wave/Funk/Pop, a rare breed indeed. It says a lot when the big single, Burning Down the House, is the worst song on the album. For the best, check out Pull Up the Roots and This Must be the Place.
  • Improved Sound Quality

I bought some of these tracks about 6 months ago and the sound quality & volume was terribly low & muffled >> like someone pressing a thick pillow over the speakers (same thing with 'Remain In Light'). I just checked the samples again & it sounds like someone has fixed this problem. The tracks now have a thrilling three-dimensional punch that rivals the best quality remasters on iTunes >> Great job on this worthy sequel to 'Remain In Light'. My only regret for this LP was the absence of Brian Eno, who was at least half the guiding force behind the masterpiece 'Remain In Light', after which he began his work with U2 on 'The Unforgettable Fire' (on which & afterwards, it seemed, U2 began to lose their own fire). I think it would have been much more interesting if he had continued with the Heads, instead.
  • Anthem

This album is the anthem of my junior year in college. Then they played most of it the same year in a concert on the patio at the University of Miami. Great album, great band, great memories...
  • One of the best

"Speaking in Tongues" is a hell of an album. There's virtually nothing on here that isn't pure greatness - the first four or five tracks alone is one of the more awesome musical stretches around. Honestly, I could go on about this one, but why bother? You really need to have this album in your collection. It is classic Talking Heads.

  • Talking Heads party.

Possibly the best party album I've ever heard. It's tough to get people to play it at parties though. Most songs will make you want to dance in an unconventional style and move your hips in mechanical motions. Burning Down the House, I Get Wild / Wild Gravity, Swamp, Moon Rocks, This Must Be the Place.
  • THE Ultimate Party Record

Almost everyone has heard the song Burning Down the House. Great song, sure. But that's just the start of the party. Slippery People will burn the house nextdoor down. Moon Rocks, I Get Wild, Pull Up The Roots are sick. This Must Be The Place might be the best song they ever wrote. They're all amazing. Talking Heads made their signature artistic statement with Remain In Light, but this is probably their masterpiece. If you want an album of funk and fun and driving, thick grooves, it doesn't get much better than Speaking in Tongues. Period.
