  • DISAPPOINTMENT

In Samuel 16:23 it says " Whenever the spirit from God came on Saul, David would take up his lyre and play. Then relief would come to Saul; he would feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him." It means whenever David played his instrument the demons fled. So common sense says if you listen or write songs that curse and are non-christian the evil spirit will stay. Honestly I'm not proud of what anthem lights. SING CHRISTIAN!
  • Why the hate?

Okay, so maybe hate is too strong, but why are so many people saying they're disappointed in the album just because it doesn't talk about God, Jesus, or christianity every single song? I didn't think the album was amazing, but so what they did a pop album? They're expanding their own sound and exploring other music. Also, there are plenty of bands that may have christian members, but not all their songs are obviously biblical. Thousand Foot Krutch, Switchfoot, Skillet, FM Static, the list goes on and on. They make music about real life, which includes things outside of a lot of contemporary christian music. I'm not saying contemporary is bad, but neither is this album. I for one have to give Anthem Lights props for trying something new.

Everyone’s been talking about the lack of Christian lyrics, so I think that point’s been covered. I personally shut it off before even realizing that the lyrics weren’t Christian because it just SOUNDS bad. Like, I love these guys! I know they can sing because their first self-titled album proved that. In one word, it’s NOISY, and this is coming from a person who will listen to Capital Kings and these guys who specialize in the techno style that oh so many people find noisy. Capital Kings has a method to their madness, but this album doesn’t. It just sound like pop-like, synthesized, emptiness. That’s it: the music is empty. It doesn’t energize me because the music has no life. I’m not saying that’s because their’s no God in the album, but there is definitely no reason worth listening to it. You can find the exact same sound slightly better in hundreds of other places. I don’t have the money to waste. A message to the guys: Listen to your first album and go back to that. Maybe then you’ll win back some of your old listeners and countless new ones.

This sounds so much tighter and well put together than previous releases. Love the lyrics.

First of all, Anthem Lights always makes great music! Their voices together are just absolute perfection! This album isn’t worship songs or anything of that sort, sounds like mainstream except they don’t talk about things that mainstream music does. They sing about relationships but there’s no talk of dirty things and no curse words. It’s honestly just a feel good album while still being a Christian band. All their songs are extremely catchy and I have all the songs on repeat! I promise you won’t be disappointed! :)
  • A Review On The Now, Not The Past

People have been reviewing this album low because they miss what the band USED to be. We have to review it on how the band is NOW. With no bias and compare it to other music the same style. This album is fun. Most of the songs are upbeat, high tempo. The words can be cheesy, but Anthem Lights were just trying to have a little fun as well. I recommend to always listen to the album before buying, just in case. And so if you know if you like it. This album, to me is worth a 4 because of the cheesy lyrics. But, if you're into that, this is for you.

  • Love the hearts of these men!

Here's a couple of things I love about this album: It's nice to hear songs about guy/girl relationships that are cute and sweet without being immoral or lustful like today's mainstream music. ie Love You Like the Movies, Paradise, Best Thing etc. The songs are peppy and fun. Anyone who has heard their music knows that their voices blend SO well together. I've watched a couple of their music videos for this album and was completely blown away by the one for Just Fall. It tells the story of a homeless man and how he found his way to Christ and eventually a more permeant living situation. Its obvious that these artists are trying to raise awareness regarding the homeless situations all over the nation which I personally think is fantastic. I love the honesty of these men and the encouragement that comes through their music. Keep singing guys!! PS LOVE the covers you do too!!!!
