This is hands down the best album Norma Jean ever put out. I’m a huge Norma Jean fan but this one has always stood out as number one to me. The only albums of theirs I don’t recommend are The Anti Mother and Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child.
  • A solid album!

When I listened to this album the first time, I HATED it. Not just a little bit either. Flash forward about 4 1/2 years later and here I am, giving it four stars. It IS actually pretty good. The only reason I hated it originally was that I was new to metal, and I just thought this was a bunch of noise. While it is still a whole lot of noise, this time I was able to note the technical aspects of this “noise” (i.e. how complex the drums and guitars were). Anyway, give this album a listen, unless you were me 4 1/2 years ago.

"O God The Aftermath" is the best album in the hardcore genre since Poison the Well released "The Opposite of December: A Season of Separation." The raw, aggressive nature of these tracks is unmatched, as is the unbridled passion and unrelenting originality of the band. This is not easy listening... this is one of THE very best efforts in modern rock today. Screeching guitars, unbelievable rhythms, and scathing vocals lead to an unforgettable performance. The album is matched in creativity and ferocity only by the outstanding artwork contained within the booklet that accompanies the disc. "O God The Aftermath" cemented Norma Jean's legacy as one of the underground innovators of an often imitated, never duplicated style of hardcore metal that will stand the test of time among true fans.
