Buika has an incredible voice, pair that with the piano playing of Chucho Valdes and you have a timeless duo. This is a must have for your music library and life. This woman truly deserves every bit of praise she gets.

Who was the genius that labeled the genre "Raices" for Buika?

A truly amazing singer. My spanish is limited, but when she sings, you can feel the passion in her unique voice. She is fun, sad, haunting, romantic all at once, buy them all! You will love her, I promise you.

There's no way to describe this album, it's just AMAZING. I'm a guy who listens normally to other kinds of music, specially indie/alternative pop-rock, but always keeping my mind open, because I feel in the end that music, is music. Well this is not an easy listen, boleros are sad, melancholic and sometimes u re not in that mood, or u think u re not. They talk about broken hearts, about people who lost everything. But they are just beautiful. Buika is a black spanish woman, who's parents are originary from Senegal, she is a very smart and nice person. She has not only an incredible beautiful broken voice but also a extremely big talent to sing this difficult kind of music, and I say difficult because most of singers who try to sing this kind of music normally they don't transmit nothing, they sing like they were singing any other thing, and this music needs a deep soul and a big brain. Some times u can feel in the air a flavor to Chavela Vargas who has been the biggest singer of boleros ever, but she does not try to copy her, it's just that she feels so well this music that it comes to a level similar to the great Costarican singer. Although this is a fresh breeze for this type of music and the boleros are just awesome, JUst listen las simples cosas, is the most beautiful song ever. I don't know who was the writer but is just awesome, I think the first singer was Mercedes Sosa. It's like a poem from Machado or Joan MAragall.

Thanks Concha for singing this beautiful Ecuadorian song (pasillo) that was made popular by the great Guayaquileno Julio Jaramillo. Loved it.

Have been following Buika since visiting Spain in 2005 and this has to be inarguably her best compilation. The melodies, the vocal ability and the instrumentation speak to your soul. One of the few artists who are able to sing with their voice, heart and soul in perfect harmony.
