Life As We Know It

I think many albums suffer from being compared to earler classic work. This album also must be placed in context of the times when it was released. 80's Pop music often suffered from a slick overproduced studio sound. REO was past it's heyday as arena rock superstars but they still carried a faithful following. They worked hard to keep relevant on in the field with the dominant brit synth pop of the times. The analog synthesizers date this album but it doesn't completely overshadow their ability to write catchy songs. To call this the worst rock album ever is totally inaccurate and overstated. In fact there are several gems on here that hold up today in spite of the dated production. That Ain't Love, In My Dreams are the standouts but the rest of the album compares well with much of their earlier material on more successful albums and may represent the last important music of their career.

A couple really good songs "Variety Tonight", "That Ain't Love", "Accidents Can Happen" and "In My Dreams" and a lot of filler Sadly this is the last album that Gary and Alan played on and it wasn't the best way to go out. The tour supporting it wasn't even that great and I've seen REO a bunch of times.

I am so glad Itunes has this. While it may not have been one of Reo's best, I still love it as I did listen to this on cassette. It is so nice I get to download this!!!
