A classic comeback album for Carly Simon. A number of great songs that deserved more credit than they received. The video is equally a Classic!
  • Good substitute for her Martha's Vineyard concert

The songs here were generally covered during her HBO Martha's Vineyard concert (including the Itsy Bitsy Spider sung with children). Not all of the songs from the concert are here, but it's still a great slice of Carly.
  • Her BEST Since "You're So Vain" and "Nobody Does It Better"

"Coming Around Again" is a strong CD, full of great individual tracks. No wonder it cracked the Billboard charts for Carly back in 1987, her first in almost a decade! Listening to Carly thru the years, I actually think she grew as a singer and got better and better as time went by. I had trouble with her phrasing and enunciation sometimes on her '70s stuff. Of course back then her hits just kept coming, but you had trouble with her enunciation with words. Try listening to "You're So Vain" without a lyric sheet and you can tell she sometimes had trouble enunciating words properly. By the '80s, her enunciation got so much better. "Coming Around Again" is just a great CD from start to finish. Carly even tackles the standard "As Time Goes By", probably signaling her interest in singing the standards that she would record years later, starting with "My Romance", another great CD. Carly just got better as the years went by.

I remember growing up listening to this album because my mom was always playing the tape. I was 6 when this came out. I still enjoy it today.

You must listen to this whole album. She really made a strong one after a couple of bad ones in the 80's. One of my favorites from her.
  • Not a well known album, but STUNNING

I grew up in the late 60s and early 70s and Carly Simon was well known and well played in my musical circle. Growing older my musical tastes changed and I experience all types of music but came to appreciate the golden oldies and my generations "classics". Looking for the new classic in the late 80s and early 90s I picked this album up as my collection at that time had either been "getting old" and I think possibly lost or in storage. So you know how it goes when you don't have that many, you listen to those few VERY frequently. That was the case with this album. I also lent it out to friends, some who did not know who she was (I was living in a foreign country) and they fell in love with it as well. Every song is excellent and grows on you. The biggest memory of this album was lending it out to a female friend that fell in love with it, and during a festival we happened to be out on the dance floor with the most popular song came on, Coming Around Again, she broke down and started crying but grabbed me firmly and I got the best dance and kiss of my adult life ! Man, was her boyfriend pissed...
  • Still great!

I love Carly Simon and her music. I remember getting this album (as an LP) when I was a freshman in college. I loved it then, and I still do. All of the songs on it are really great. Since then, though, I have gotten it on CD and played it quite a bit. Carly is still an amazing talent.
