One word; 'Fear'. Can't say enough about what an incredible vocal performance she gives on that song. This is her best album I loved Surfacing as well but despite that became her best seller, this is her ture gem and her best album. I remember falling in love with her when I was 8 upon hearing 'Possession' and I haven't been the same sense. Will always love this album, holds a special place in my heart.
  • Well Written

I LOVE this album. Especially Elsewhere and Ice. Nothing tops the title track, though. Lyrical perfection!

I recall first listening to this on cassette in my sophomore year in college. What captivated me was the consistent songwriting, song after song. Additionally, there is a certain cohesiveness to this work that gives it that true “album” quality. The production aspect, while detailed, is not overpowering. This gave the songs the chance to shine on their own. This is not just a collection of songs. It is a masterwork. It is no wonder that she hasn’t consistently approached these heights since. This set the bar very high, a bar that most writers can only dream of achieving.
  • Her best, bar none.

After an awkward debut and a a sophmore slump, Sarah Mclachlan really entered the world with this masterpiece of a record. 20 years later, it's still her best, and the one to own if you're going to own a Mclachlan CD. Don't get me wrong, Surfacing and Afterglow are great. But this is Sarah Mclachlan at her best.

I can't believe this record is nearly twenty years old. Ell of the songs on it are timeless. They really could have been brand new. I love Good Enough, Ice Cream and Elsewhere. I love that Sarah is still making music and loved by many but this record is my favorite and possibly always will be. Great, great record.
  • Awesome still

I listened to this album every night while falling asleep during my highschool years. "Hold On" really resonates with me, although the work as a whole is timeless.
