I have every song they've ever recorded. First on L.P., cassette, now on C.D. Even bought a live version of their songs extended version 1992. Loved their music. Some great aerobic workout music. Miss them. NOW I've definitely dated myself!

In the movie, Eddie & The Cruisers, there was talk about a rumoured 2nd album called "A Season In Hell". I guess this is it. But its not Eddie & The Cruisers, its JOHN CAFFERTY & THE BEAVER BROWN BAND. And its their first studio album released after the unexpected and delayed popularity of the Eddie & The Cruisers soundtrack. And in the 1980's, its a musical rarity in that its good, clean, honest rock and roll with songs you can dance to, drive to, listen to and jam too. Beaver Brown manaages to cover the spectrum from up tempo rock to the ballads as well. And they do it with an original sound.

Not too many years ago (2005) I happen to come upon a movie that was in progress for the past 45 minutes, and as I watched it I became immediately enthralled with the songs. As it progressed I promised myself to find out more about "Eddie and the Cruisers" 32 years, WOW, later and these songs are still beyond their time and I believe can/will outlast anything that has and or will come down the music pike. J. C. and the B.B.B. unfortunately never saw the national or worldwide popularity that they should have. But like CCR their music is timeless and their followers are eternally dedicated and loyal. The movies and especially the songs will live on.

I would play john caferty songs over and over. He had a great sound and upbeat music. I would see him whenever I knew he was playing in town. It is too bad he didn't keep writing...he was a talent! He is a diamond in the rough...
  • The way great music used to be made!

Too bad John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band never made it bigger than they did. They were definitely a small gem in a sea of manufactured music. Years and years ago, I was in a record store (remember those?) when Small Town Girl came on...loved the song so much, I bought a 45. I still had a turntable, and would play the thing to death. Was going through a stack of old 45s and 33s, and came across Small Town Girls on one side, and the music only side on the other. My turntable isn't hooked up anymore (but, I still have it), and I decided to see if iTunes might just have the song. They did, I downloaded it, and clicked through all the tracks on this album. He reminds me of Springsteen, with a few songs that could have been playing on the jukebox in Grease. Great music.
  • This was a very underated band

I only got interested in John Cafferty because of the old Eddie and the Crusiers movies butI got interested in the band after loving the music in the movies. I think he was a very creative song writer but he and the band only made it locally it seems. Too bad as I think he had a lot more in him where those songs came from. I certainly like this album because it is so retro.
  • Great Songs!
