This album and the one before it are fantastic. Gone is the folky Joni and the jazzy stylings of hejira etc. However, her songwriting is immaculate. She addresses social issues as well as themes of a more intimate nature. Her sense of melody is always present. These albums from the middle to late nineties are excellent. Don't look for a "Blue or court and spark it's not here, but what you do have is a mature songwriter on top of her game. These albums rank alongside the classics. You will not be dissapointed. Disreagard the first review.
