  • The Gurls Have an Awesome Holiday Tune-Even in July.

I have to admit, I bought this tune on July 11. But, it's awesome, even without the holidays. It's obviously a holiday song, but there are themes, dreams, and elements that transcend the holiday season. The desire not to be alone, for example. Being home. It's beautiful musically, with great lyrics and guitar. And no one of them outshines the other-even though Vicki sings lead. Must have for any Bangles fan-must have also for Christmas.

I was thrilled to hear of a new original Bangles tune! In typical Bangles fashion, "Light My Way" features flawless harmonies and expert arrangement. It's a little slower than I like my Bangles music to be, but it is pretty, so that makes up for it. My only less-than-positive impression is that the song would have been even better with Michael Steele's vocals in the mix. I could tell she wasn't there, and I missed her. But overall, a must for Bangle fans to add to their collections.

As a longtime fan of the Bangles, I was happy with the more mature sound of this single. I admit, the lyrics are a bit hokey in a few spots (tho the use of "all is calm, all is bright" is fantastically done), but their mastery of harmony does more than lift that weakness beyond its own strength. Between the blend of voices and the music, the song invokes the glow of a crackling fireplace and a cuddling in a soft plush blanket. So, curl up & download:)
  • A holiday gem

People who are only familiar with the Bangles biggest hits - "Walk Like An Egyptian" or "Manic Monday," perhaps - are often suprised at the band's depth and range when exposed to lesser-known music. These women are excellent writers and know how to craft a tune to emphasize their strengths. "Light My Way" is a perfect example - a simple yet heartfelt song of longing at holiday time, its sincere lyrics are crisp like December air and the band's ever-gorgeous harmonies sparkle like the lights one might pass while shopping, dreaming of getting back home to the warm arms of the person they love. A nice addition to any holiday collection. Happy Holidays!

The Bangles "Light My Way" is the perfect holiday treat. The symbiosis between Vicki, Debbi and Susanna contiunes to amaze. Their vocals and harmonies are among the absolute best in rock and pop music. Their legacy continues with this latest release.

A great tune for the holidays filled with beautiful Bangle harmonies and great production. Loved it and it is well worth getting. Hope to see a full album soon.
  • Not bad, but not great

Light My Way is just an OK Holiday song. While certainly not bad, the actual lyrics of the song are somewhat uninspired. And the band's normally outstanding harmonies seem off. This may be due to the absence of longtime bassist Michael Steele. While it's always nice to hear new Bangles music, this effort by the band is ultimately a forgettable one.
  • A lovely alternative to tired old holiday standards

I was expecting something more pop-y and 80's sounding, but this sweet and heartfelt song is a pleasant surprise. The band has the trademark harmonies and guitars, but the song is more mature and thoughtful than you might think from the band that made us walk like Egyptians. I'll definitely add this to my holiday playlist - perfect for cozy winter evenings !
