I didnt mean to offend you or anyone else. Louis Armstrong is an amazing musician and I agree that overall he has better tone quality than Maynard ( sorry I spelled his name wrong, I wrote that review late at night). I guess I just was so impressed with Ferguson's range that I didn't stop to listen to Louis's clean crisp sound. I highly reccommend this album. As I've said before, Louis is a legend and I'm sure that nobody could prove that wrong. I do favor Maynard because I simply adore his improv solos. They are phenomenal due to his mind blowing ability to play those far above the staff high notes. I'm not saying anything against Louis because his improv is just as good and I would consider him a king of jazz. I simply said that Maynard should have been included in the jazz 101 playlist. I myself am a trumpet player even if I am a girl, I love the instrument and enjoy listening to jazz. My band instructor took us to see Maynard live last year before he died and I was truely inspired, but the more I think of it, I do agree with some of your opinions. Thanks for sharing. Buy the album, Louis is amazing.

Not only is this album a true demonstration of Louis' ability, but he is way better than Maynard Ferguson, whose name you managed to spell incorrectly. Maynard could definately hit high notes, but his tone and overall form is very sloppy. Louis can do everything Maynard could, just faster and cleaner.

This album is amazing. Don't just buy a few tracks. Buy the whole thing. Louis Armstrong is one of the best in jazz, so if you like jazz, your collection wouldn't be complete without him. BUY IT!
