Not so harsh!

There are certainly differences from the original, but personally I like this version for the better. I also agree that maybe more was taken out than necessary, but took out some of the tin like qualities and there was a clear freshness about it, but I can also understand where everyone else is coming from if you grew up with the old version, that's what you will remember it as. I like them both, but I think I may be more inclined to listen to this version more.
Not the originals, not any better

I am a sound engineer and I disagree with the review that says the sound is terrible. Maybe too much vocal overdubs but the sound quality is superb. The music knocks me out of this chair it is so good. Give this one a chance.

Juice Newton has re-recorded her back catalog soooo many times, why? She still has an awesome voice and some small record label should sign her, put her in the studio with a producer and allow her to record original or at least new material. Her retreading of hits is just overdone. Stop living in the past Juice, you are so much better than that and my God, what's with the reverb?

Sadly, Juice Newton is the latest in a series of really wonderful artists convinced that they need to suffer the indignities of remaking their old catalog for profit. I'm not talking clever remixes or reinterpretations, this is just simply someone else's greed ruining an artist's reputation. I agree with others - stick to her Capitol GH disc, and remember her fondly. Better yet, drop her management a line and let them know you want to hear new material from her.

A terrible remastering job -- Sounds like she's in a well. It was cheap and so was the quality!!
Don't bother buying...

For whatever reason, this is a repackaging of the stinky "Choice Cuts" CD already on Itunes -- only this CD has 5 fewer songs on it (and is $4 cheaper...!) I have no idea why they would retread these echoey mixes into another CD. I guess for the $$. Sigh. I hope Itunes gets the rights to Juice's 80s RCA country albums so we can buy those and just ignore these re-recordings. I'm a huge Juice fan and would enjoy hearing her remake her past hits, but with a better recording engineer!! How sad.
