Description

The Coneheads were a sketch on the Saturday Night Live television show of the late '70s which were expanded to feature-length proportions with this film. The story concerns Beldar (Dan Aykroyd) and Prymaat (Jane Curtin), who leave the planet Remulak to prepare for an invasion of Planet Earth. But due to a malfunction, they find themselves plunged into the Hudson River and forced to take up residence in Paramus, New Jersey where Beldar gets work as an appliance salesman and makes a deal for a phony social security card. Before long, all thoughts of invading Earth are left behind as Beldar and Prymaat quickly adapt to suburban life — except for their coneheads and metallic-sounding voices, they become a typical middle-class suburban family. The Coneheads have a child, Connie (Michelle Burke) and Beldar becomes a New York cab driver and starts up his own driving school. Connie grows into a teenager and a neighborhood boy, Ronnie (Chris Farley), develops a crush on her because he likes to rub her conehead. But a nefarious INS agent, Gorman Seedling (Michael McKean), and his toady assistant, Turnbull (David Spade), are hot on The Coneheads' trail because of Beldar's false social security card. Not only that, but the Remulakian Highmaster (Dave Thomas) is beginning to wonder what ever happened to Beldar's invasion of the third rock from the sun.

Classic movie! When will it be 4K Dolby vision?? Come on let’s move it Apple! Does Apple need Donald Trump to negotiate a better deal for the companies to convert them to HD and 4K?? I’ve got 453 movies on my Apple account and only 45 of them are 4K! Some content isn't HD but is still SD from when you only sold SD!
  • So funny!

  • A Real “Killer” B Movie (one of 237!)

This review is an excerpt from my book “Killer B’s: The 237 Best Movies On Video You’ve (Probably) Never Seen,” which is available as an ebook on iBooks. If you enjoy this review, there are 236 more like it in the book (plus a whole lot more). Check it out! CONEHEADS: It’s not just a one-gag movie; actually, they never use the same gag twice. Running gags, however, concern the Coneheads’ ability to “consume mass quantities” of anything, and their attempts at disguising their skyscraping skulls to escape detection. The flick also contains gently chiding satire of Middle American manners and mores, and a veritable parade of bit parts by standup comics (Sinbad, Ellen DeGeneres, Drew Carrey, Tom Arnold), and comedians from Seinfeld (Jason Alexander, Michael Richards), SCTV (Thomas), and Saturday Night Live (Spade, Farley, Phil Hartman, Jan Hooks, Jon Lovitz Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Julia Sweeney, Tim Meadows, Kevin Nealon, Garret Morris). Aykroyd, with his pop-eyed smile, stilted language, colorful descriptions and whiny, helium-sucking monotone hasn’t been this funny since “Ghostbusters.” It’s a fun, no-brainer, live cartoon. Mebs!

I thought this was a truly funny movie and IMO perhaps the best of all the SNL transfers to the big screen. Your opinion definitely depends on wether or not you find SNL funny. If not then don't even bother. If however your an SNL fan it's a truly good (but not great) film. I guarantee it or I will Knarfle the Garthac. I would recommend renting rather then buying if your at all unsure though.
