  • Won't Be Purchasing This One

I had really high hopes when I heard there was a new Cody Simpson album out, as I am a big fan of all of his other 4 albums, and as his 2 most recent albums before this one (Paradise and Surfers Paradise) are my 2 favorites of his, and since those albums were such a success, I guess I was expecting that he would be staying pretty close to the same feel on this album (laid back, but still pumped at the same time, and loving life). This album just feels like he went and started smoking something, and got too laid back. I need some music with a beat Cody, and this album just doesn't measure up. Sorry. Hopefully your next album will be a bit better, because I'm certainly not buying this one.

I'm going through a very rough phase of my life right now & find it hard to listen to music. Either too much heartbreak or meaningless pop. And then I happened upon you, Cody. Your music, besides being so authentically you, has this affect on me that brings me back to a place of hope--in a very real way. Thank you!

Honesty, it takes a truly strong and determined person in this time to come out and be themselves in a world that is so overly judge mental and where celebrities are only in it for the money and fame. Cody is amazing and this music speaks more about him than ever

This is a really catchy album! I like the roots-based sound with strong influences of blues and reggae. The songwriting is really impressive with easy comparisons to John Mayer and Jack Johnson. The G-Love and Donavon Frankenreiter collaborations are real standouts and probably translate real well live. Keep on ROCKING kid! You are on a special journey. M

This is by far Cody's best work. You can tell that all of his sounds are organic and it is so cool. Music this real is rare, and he mastered it. I'm proud to share oxygen with this dude!
  • Fresh Start

Cody worked REALLY hard on Free. He spent many hours in the studio writing songs and recording song. Probably staying up all night putting Free together. It's not easy making an album and ESPECIALLY not having a record company to back you up. It's he's first independent album and I couldn't be any prouder. Being a fan for the past four years I see how he transition into this amazing artist. He had he bumps in the road, but continued on his way. This album is a good start for being an independent album. I'm sure his next independent album will be better. After all this is his first so it's still rough but at least it's a start. For everyone saying this isn't rock it's soft rock. My suggestion would be for iTunes to have a more boarder sections of music genres. Original it was Americana but than it got changed to Rock. After all iTunes is more focused on main stream music genres which is why some feel this isn't rock.

I've never been a fan of Cody Simpson... until now. I would've never expected him to make this kind of music. It reminds me of a younger version of John Mayer. I love it.
