"Blue Lights Shining" = cop cars. This song, written 39 years ago, takes you down a journey in the winter cold at 4am on LSD, through the S curve, the gold coast, and all the way down. It's still timeless, and this digital master for 99 cents is a steal!!!!

I've loved this album for a very long time. An interesting story about the song "For Eddy" is that it was written about a gentleman who played piano in clubs in Chicago named Eddie Balchowsky. He was wounded, and lost his arm during the Spanish Civil War as a member of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade fighting Franco. Jimmy Buffet also wrote a song about Eddie called "He Went To Paris". The man is a Chicago legend and by all accounts an amazing character.
  • LSD is a classic song in St. Louis!

Back in the day before national radio conglomerates homogenized and destroyed rock radio, St. Louis had a VERY idiosyncratic taste in rock music. Songs you'd never hear almost anywhere else were played there like they were Top 40, even 10 years or more after their release. Songs like LSD, Mason Proffit's Two Hangmen, Tarney Spencer's No Time To Lose, Nantucket's Heartbreaker...you get the picture. Anyway, hearing this song again brings back great memories of growing up in St. Louis in the late 70s and early 80s.

Having lived in Chicago all my life, this song brings a tear to my eyes. This song evokes all the memories of my youth. Hanging out in the back alley's of Chicago, running with my buddies getting into trouble, cruisin Marquette Park on a Saturday night. Man what memories.

If you love Chicago, you have to have "Lake Shore Drive" in your iTunes. "Lake Shore Drive" is a great song but if you like Harry Chapin, I think you will find this entire album fun to listen to. Many of A,H & J songs tell a story. The songs just have a lot of heart.

I lived in Chicago for 20 yrs, travelled the Lake Shore Drive many times in all kinds of weather and traffic, but having been gone from Chicago for 18 yrs. now, this is the song that really brings back the feel of the city, its night life, and its beauty. As has been stated on other reviews, this is the definitive song of the city.

I haven't heard this song since I was 10 years old. I was born in Chicago and my mother had this album because she knew one of the band members. We used to rock out hard to this in vinyl form. Thanks iTunes for bringing back a great memory!
