Marina has a characteristic that I haven't heard anywhere else: her voice is haunting yet it soothes you at the same time . She's got some incredible talent and this debut shows nothing less than that.

I've been quietly following Marika for quite some time now, and I am so delighted to see her debut this piece of mastery. Her content is often dark and grim, but is juxtaposed beautifully with her soft, often transparent voice and her handsome guitar playing. She is a true artist as she pulls inspiration from a myriad of sources, including classic literature and compositions, and turns them into works that are completely her own. You will not be disappointed with Marika Hackman, but please be respectful of her craft and intent, and give this album a listen when you have the time to hear it in full and with good headphones or even better, a solid record player.
