Linda makes these songs her own with her distinctive voice and interpretation. Love this!

Loved this one from the start, it was kind of a big deal when she released this because it was considered New Wave. This still holds up after all these years. Wish she was still able to tour. Her voice was the best

Linda is totally awesome, rocking it on this album. I remember listening to this in 1980 when 1st released and ur sounds just as great, has withstood the test of time. No one sings it like Linda! One of a kind incredible artist.
  • Linda rocks harder

I always thought this album was a little underrated and harshly reviewed by the critics. I think the critical harshness was because she covered three Elvis Costello songs. I don't think they are the best songs here (Talking In The Dark is the low point for me). I also think her including covers of old pop hits was beginning to work against her her, although I think "I Can't Let Go" is terrific. I wish "Cost of Love" or "Justine" had been tried out as singles - I think they would have sounded great on radio. Best songs: "How Do I Make You", " I Can't Let Go", "Cost of Love", "Justine".

Nearly every artist emerging from the late-60s/early-70s period was encouraged/pressured to adopt a New Wave approach as a way to stay relevant (and sell albums). Mad Love was Linda's attempt, and it holds up very well indeed. Saw her at Radio City on the tour that supported Mad Love and Get Closer (her follow-up). Party Girl was one of those live concert experiences that lives with you forever: her voice filled Radio City on the final four notes in a way that's still indescribable.
