One of the finest viola recordings.

This is an amazing recording of viola music. Not sure why there are such low reviews. The playing and sound quality is flawless as far as I'm concerned. Playing of this level will help change people's minds about what the viola is capable of sounding like. The fact that it's a Naxos release shuldn't be a suprise. They've produced some of the finest albums in recent years at an affordable price. It's a shame that Herr Koll hasn't recorded more solo albums but hopefully Naxos will invite him for a another recital.
A Viola Album? NO WAY!!

The gem here is the Passicaglia for violin and viola. It far exceeds the Perlman-Zukerman and the Kennedy-Harrell efforts. The rest are done well with less than scintillating material.
