Sunday Morning Peace

Jonn Serrie's music has been an integral part of my life since the mid-80s, when I first received the cassette version of ...AND THE STARS GO WITH YOU, his incredible debut. Since then, with each successive release, he has proven time and again his knack, his GIFT for creating electronic landscapes and vistas very few other ENA (electronic new age) musicians have been able to approach. This, his latest release, is no exception...and let there be no doubt, this is exceptional music of the highest order. Inspired by his life-altering experiences as a hospice worker, Jonn has fashioned 5 extended pieces of unspeakably beautiful music to aid the dying in the initial stages of their great transition into the next life. The sounds of ocean waves are blended with Jonn's signature electronic keyboard textures to induce feelings and atmospheres of deep, deep peace. Many of his other compositions are of a similar nature, too...examples that come to mind are "Annie By The Sea," "Stratos," "Glyder," "The Stars, Like Dust," "Starmoods," "Welcome Home," and one of my personal favorites, "The Ancient Of Days." If you are a newcomer to the music of this fine gentleman, then this is a great place for you to start. Jonn's catalog of music goes from the tranquil to the joyously upbeat (e.g., tracks 1 and 4 from FLIGHTPATH), and everything in-between. There is so much joy, relaxation, & moments of crystal-clear consciousness-raising to be had from listening to this, and ALL of his releases. But truly--in ways that are both smile-inducing and life-affirming--he has surpassed even himself with SUNDAY MORNING PEACE. Long-time Serrie fans will not be disappointed with this, and those who are newcomers are in for a treat they could have never expected.
