Rimsky-Korsakov: Scheherazade

Nice weighted sound but the sound range is a little too dreamy and swirling clouds of mist for my taste (not as bad as Gergiev on Phillips echo chamber effect mind you). Excellent concertmaster/concertmistress (hope it's a mistress actually =) Solid interpretation with kudos to the strings, which leads to a sweet and soulful 3rd movement that allows a little schmaltz to be forgiven (c'mon it's a showpiece), but that schmaltz leads to a imprecise 4th movement that isn't as sharp or succinct (staccato) as, say, Mackerras. Surprised to see Schwarz with Seattle again. Thought they hated each other! Fun effort, good price.
