Reviews

  • Awful vocals from Liam while music saves the day

I would have given this EP a zero stars out of five if it were possible but unfortunately such a rating does not exsist on ITunes. Liams voice is atrocious in this performence and for those who are familiar with the Dig Out Your Soul tour you would know that this kind of quality from Liam was normal. However the one star I give is for Noel saving his little brother along with the other musicians backing Oasis that night.

I'm a huge Oasis fan, but this garbage is of such terrible quality,it's not even worth 1 penny let alone 5 bucks! don't wast your time.
  • A solid final live document

This is a pretty good album, and Liam's vocals are better than they have been on past releases althoughI'd agree that it is odd that this ep includes nothing from their most recent album, or for that matter, anything theyve made in the past 10 years. The most interesting thing in hindsight, however, is the fact unless Noel one day rejoins Liam and reforms the band, this is Oasis' final release as a band, and for that alone it is worth getting for a fan.
  • Could it sound any worse?

Oasis is tops. Song selection is fine if a bit "old school". Unfortunately it sounds like everything on stage, save the orchestral instruments and vocals, was run through a soiled nappy, or maybe a soiled nappy effects pedal. The sound is terrible.

And this collection of live swagger orgasm is proof. Two words: Slide Away.
  • Oasis are always top-notch, but...

I'm disappointed this is a five-song EP and not a full live album. It's also strange four of the five (count 'em, five) songs are from Definitely Maybe--it's my favorite Oasis album, but live versions of songs such as "Live Forever" and "Cigarettes & Alcohol" are so common. They're on Live by the Sea, they're on ...There and Then, they're on Familiar to Millions, etc. I wish at least one or two songs from Dig Out Your Soul (this performance -was- part of the Dig Out Your Soul tour) had been included--perhaps "I'm Outta Time" and "To Be Where There's Life." Still, though, I definitely recommend this to any Oasis fan. Noel and Gem Archer's guitars sound epic and Liam's voice is snarling, sneering, and full-on rock 'n' roll--he was (as was highly reported by the Brit press) very angry during this gig after a bottle was thrown at him, and it results in one of the most intense vocal performances I've heard this tour. So, all in all, the five-song track listing is a bit predictable and old-fashioned--these songs are classics and will, erm, live forever, but, c'mon, let's shed light on the new Oasis material, too--but the performance is awesome and well worth the price.
  • Should have been a full album

Great classics here, but this should have been the full gig. From all accounts, this was one of the best Oasis gigs in a while thanks to the raw anger and energy that Liam brought to the stage that night. Liam gets pelted with a water bottle right when he walks on stage and ducks a few more throughout the entire gig. This seemed to put him in an especially foul mood and he spends the entire set taking it out on the songs as well as certain people in the crowd.
  • Oasis Classics...

I have to say that I jumped at grabbing these tracks because they are all classics. But, after a few more listens I have to say, Familiar To Millions is a better live show. In my opinion, The London Festival tracks are good, but lacking the tightness of the Familiar To Millions versions. Check out Familiar's Supersonic and compare.
