Reviews

  • Randy Travis resurrects Country

These 10 songs represented a 1986 resurrection to country much like Nirvana's NEVERMIND album. There would not have been as strong of a Garth Brooks, Clint Black or Alan Jackson era if Randy had not taken the time to record this album. Pure history. I remember listening to this album over and over on a trip back from Florida to Tennessee when I was 11. It defines music, art and poetry for me.

My grandma had this on cassette when I was a kid and I always thought it was one of the best tapes in her large collection. Every song is a winner.

I wasnt even born yet when this album came out but i remember when i was little that my daddy would always play it and everyone would ask me who was singing and i would say "Daddy." but now that i am 20 years old i still remember every song in order that it was on the caset. I have been in love with Randy Travis' voice since i was a little girl one voice i will never forget.

This is one of the fifty best country records ever recorded. You can't begrudge some of the new folks their fame, but when it comes to the real deal, Randy Travis stands alongside greats like Hank Williams and George Jones as one of the finest voices and stylizers to ever put their talent down in recorded vinyl. Get this for your record collection now.

I remeber listening to this album when it came out and I love it just as much now as I did then. These works are an excelent example of what Country Music is supposed to sound like with the hallmark "twang" of a steel guitar. Randy's vocals are clear and soulful which helps to set the tone of each song. If you are a Randy Travis fan and have never listened to this album or if you are just a fan of tride and true Country Music this is the perfect addition to your music library.
