...this is a pretty decent record. New Beginning and Crossroads set the bar really high for what I was expecting and so hearing it I was initially a little let down. But take a closer listen and you get a pretty deep collection of songs. Tracy gives some worldbeat influencences in her songs that sound great. If you're a true TC fan, you'll definitely love this record.

Matters Of The Heart is just that, a set of ten songs that reflect Matters of the Heart. The matter of love. The matter of hope. The matter of disposition. The matter of expectations. The matter of loss. This album successfully captures these matters and is offered to you as a heartfelt presentation from Tracy Chapman. There is not one song on here that doesn't do it's job in speaking to these Matters of the Heart. Perhaps this isn't one of her better known works due to the timing of it's release. I can assure you that you owe it to yourself to stumble upon these matters though. A Beautiful album that will always help you understand just what does matter.

This album is one of her finer works with few weak songs. In my opinion, “I Used to be a Sailor” is the diamond form the good list of songs. “Bang Bang Bang” is also a wonderful effort. All in all, the album is in keeping with her album “Tracy Chapman” and the album is a must for any person wanting commentary on society. If you love her hit of an ablum "Tracy Chapman" you will love this one.
