    Harry James hired Buddy Rich to propel his excellent big band whenever Buddy was available. This live show from 1964 captures the James band in fine form with Mr. Rich driving the band hard. Buddy is in absolute top form and the James band is really smoking. The fact that James was such a big fan of Buddy's is in evidence here as the trumpet player gives Buddy not one but two extended drum solos in this set. As you listen to the energy of this cd you can almost feel a buzz in the air. Its a wonderful live recording and an excellent addition for any fan or Harry's, Buddy's or big band jazz.
