You must have missed Jay and the Americans version
Not their originals

I was all ready to download their 1969 hit "Traces/Memories, and it is a good thing I sampled it because it is a rerecording. "Hurt So Bad" sounds like a rerecording, as is "Going Out of My Head/Can't Take My Eyes Off of You." I remember how these songs sounded on my parents' radio in the late 1960s, and these aren't the same versions! I'l be holding out for the originals from the '60s! Once again, iTunes wants to sell us rerecorded junk!

This album, I believe, launched their career (or rather, The Lettermen's career). But that was 50 years ago, when I was young and so were they. This album has nothing to offer to people like me. If my grandchildren would be interested, I'd be shocked!
Who Needs These Re-Recordings?

The original hit versions of these songs are available elsewhere on iTunes [see "Capitol Collectors Series"]. So why would you want these redone remakes? Are they superior to the originals? I don't think so. And boo on K-Tel and/or iTunes for the incorrect "1963" date; in "Review" mode, the truth comes out: August, 2001.
Harmonization at it's best!

As a young teenager, whenever my older brother had The Lettermen playing on the turntable, it made me want to cry, because it resonated with my tender emotions. Hearing them today is an edifying experience!
Good album, but not the original recordings

Having most of these songs on original Lettermen albums, I was hoping to have some clean digital versions. While this album is good, it is not the originals. These guys can still hamonize and for someone that doesn't have access to the originals these are very good remakes. "She Cried" and "When I Fall in Love" and "Goin' Out Of My Head/Can't Take My Eyes" are outstanding. This album is definitely worth the download.

I love the track "She Cried". Great harmonies and melody. A true classic.
