This wisdom and wit filled final goodbye from Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer band is one any troubadour would be proud to end with. Bubbles Up seems like it was written to reassure us (Parrotheads) that all will be well if we just remember to look for our proverbial bubbles of life and remember that we are loved and there is always enough joy to get us through. The title track, Equal Strain on All Parts which may sound like an unpleasant thing - is actually his description of a good nap (courtesy of his grandfather). Who else could write a poignant song under the guise of napping other than Buffett? University of Bourbon Street takes him back to his NOLA roots with this catchy, fun tune featuring the Preservation Hall Brass Band. Other notable songs are the wanderlusting Portugal or PEI, the gorgeous cover of Dylan’s Mozambique (with OG star Emmylou Harris) and the wonderous, Caribbean-tinged Ti Punch Cafe. Oh and then there’s the song with a Beatle! Paul McCartney lays down a fun bass line on My Gummy Just Kicked In. This album is a MUST for not just Parrotheads looking for one final voyage on the SS Buffett but for anyone who appreciates good music and great songwriting.
