Rival Sons just keep getting better, which at this point almost seems impossible. I thought they had pinnacled with Feral Roots and then they came out with Darkfighter, which is as good if not a little better. But Lightbringer blows everything away. It’s criminal that this band isn’t bigger. Their musicianship is top-notch, but it’s their songwriting that really sets them apart. We got two albums from them this year, but I already can’t wait for the next one. They are on a major roll.

This band just keeps producing great material and I suggest if you’re not familiar with the band by now you give them a listen soon. Each album shows that this band has no limitation as they continue to evolve into one of the Greatest American bands out there. Jay’s voice and Scott’s guitar riffs are amazing and innovative and their live shows are some of the best I’ve seen in my 40 years of attending performances by the worlds top artists of our time.

Rival Sons were locked in with each other when they recorded this album. Jay’s vocals spread emotion all over this album. Scott’s guitar on this album is superb. The solo on Darkfighter alone had me listening a few times to hear what he was playing. Dave Beste on bass and Mike Miley keep the rhythm pulsing! I cannot recommend this album enough. Hard to pick a favorite, but Darkfighter and Mosaic are up there!

Sound is slightly different than these normal rock. Vocals on a couple tracks have a little of Jay’s early album Locus and Honey with that softer approach instead of a rocking shout. Mercy and Mosaic being favorites of mine.

Rival Sons always deliver and this one reminds me of how great a rock n roll band can be!!

I can’t even begin to explain how amazing this album is. The vocals are beyond incredible and the guitar riffs are astonishing. I definitely think this band is reaching new heights and they never disappoint. I am completely mind blown with each song within this album. You won’t know rock and roll until you’ve heard Rival Sons.
